January 20, 2025 Lummi Nation Indian Reservation Bellingham, Washington The Federal Bureau of Investigation's Seattle Field Office, Lummi Nation Police Department, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, Bellingham Police Department, and other law enforcement partners are investigating the disappearance of Besalynn Mary James, a tribal member, who was last seen on January 20, 2025, at 1:16 p.m. at her residence in Bellingham, Washington, on the Lummi Nation Indian Reservation.

James was reported missing to the Lummi Nation Police Department on January 25, 2025. It is believed that James was wearing a black jacket at the time of her disappearance.

The rest of her belongings were left behind when she went missing and she did not drive. Additionally, she was never known to go anywhere without her dogs, and they were left behind as well.

Remarks: James has ties to Boise and Nampa, Idaho; Nyssa, Oregon; and Sacramento, California.
