August 10, 2022 Kabul, Afghanistan The Federal Bureau of Investigation is seeking information regarding the disappearance of Mahmood Shah Habibi in Afghanistan in August of 2022. Habibi, Afghanistan’s former director of civil aviation, was taken from his vehicle near his home in Kabul City, Afghanistan, and allegedly detained by the Taliban’s General Directorate of Intelligence along with his driver and 29 other employees of the Asia Consultancy Group, a Kabul-based telecommunications company.
All except for Habibi and one other have since been freed. Habibi has not been heard from since his arrest, and the Taliban has yet to provide any information regarding his whereabouts or condition.
