On June 8, 1999, the bodies of Ronald Owen Hard Heart and Wilson Edison Black Elk, Jr. were discovered on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, several hundred yards north of the Nebraska border near White Clay. Both men, residents of the reservation, were last seen alive on June 6, 1999 on the main road between White Clay, Nebraska and Pine Ridge, South Dakota, and authorities determined both were murdered. Despite over two decades of investigation, the identity and motive of the killer or killers remain unknown, and the FBI continues to seek information that could lead to an arrest and conviction.

Murder Victim June 1999 South Dakota On Tuesday, June 8, 1999, the bodies of Wilson Edison Black Elk, Jr. and Ronald Owen Hard Heart were found on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation(PRIR) in South Dakota, several hundred yards north of the Nebraska-South Dakota border near White Clay, Nebraska.
The two victims, both residents of PRIR, were last seen on the main road to Pine Ridge, South Dakota from White Clay, Nebraska on Sunday, June 6, 1999. Authorities have determined that both victims were murdered.
