At that time, he was charged with Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, and Rape in the Second Degree, both in violation of New York Penal Law. Chowdhury was released on bond, and then fled the United States to Saudi Arabia in May of 2024, where he is believed to be located. On March 10, 2025, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Chowdhury by the United States District Court, Eastern District Court of New York, Brooklyn, New York, after Chowdhury was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
