On Friday, May 3, 2024, at approximately 9:10 pm, Settles was shot inside a vehicle in the 2300 block of Hartford Street, SE, Washington, D.C. She was taken to a fire station, unconscious and unresponsive, and then transported to Children's National Medical Center where, despite all life saving efforts, she was pronounced dead.
